Crunch time…
So, I haven’t posted in a while. Been busy with school work (other than this blog).
Speaking of which, in order to fulfill my requirements for my blog assignment I have to post links to a PDF file and a Word doc, so here goes…
Below is a link to my anotated bibliography for a research paper I have just about completed. It is about human information behavior, which I happen to find rather interesting.

And a PDF… that’s a bit more difficult. (short break while I switched computers)
Ahh, here’s an interesting piece. This is actually my English Lit Thesis paper from college. It’s a literary analysis of the album The Score by The Fugees. Check it out.
There you go, enjoy!!
Carl von Clausewitz
Since I’m on the topic of gradschool course-work today, I thought I’d do a 2 for 1 day and post another little tidbit.
I’m currently taking a Library Management course, which is not my favorite topic. I DID, however, have to put together a presentation about a famous “thinker”. For this assignment I picked Carl von Clausewitz, a man about whom I knew very little before I began the assignment.
Basically he was a 19th Century military theorist who’s views regarding modern warfare have been quite influential, if not controverial, over the succeeding century.

Other web-works…
Hi all…
Since my stated purpose for this blog is really as an assignment for a gradschool class, I figured I’d include a post liking to some other similar pieces I’ve created in the past. I’m supposed to be demonstrating that I know how to create a blog, and since I’ve already completed similar assignments, I’m thinking that it wouldn’t hurt to include them in this assignment.
Last semester I had two “Web 2.0″ assignments, one was to create a blog and the other was to create a wiki research guide.
For the first assginment I created ArtSmog, a blog on which I commented on the NYC art scene. I tried to keep “art” as broad a term as possible, including both concerts and different types of art exhibits and muesums.
Next I created an online research guide for music called Musikolog. My original focus was on aggregating websites that provide useful information regarding music and concerts, with a focus on the NYC area. The links are divided by subject area and if you surf around a bit you will note a pretty wide vareity of resources most of which are free. Be sure to check out some of the streaming media I link to in the NYC Sumer Music section.
C’mon Baby Light My Fire
So pretty crazy stuff going on in my life this week. I was away over the weekend snowboarding at Stowe Mountain Resort (pics and comments to follow in another post), and I returned home only to have my apartment building almost BURN DOWN on Wednesday morning!!
I looked around for news of it and just found this one local blog post. You’ll note that they didn’t think it was real because there was a film crew on the block that morning as well. Too bad Nic Cage (that’s my subway stop in the pic, btw!) was too busy to come save us with his magical powers.
Anyways, lucky for me (and my roommates) the fire started in the dry cleaners in the back of the building, so my apartment escaped any major damage (other than that caused by the Fire Fighters kicking in our door and smashing my window.
As it turned out my roommate was there when it happened. Here’s some pics he took.

Creative Fundraising for Tough Times
I remember, as a kid, my grandparents taking me to see the Panorama of New York City at the Queens Museum of Art, which was very cool back then and is still pretty cool now.
Now, however, the museum has started “selling” the panoramas fake-estate as a new and inventive fund raising activity.
Personally I think it’s a great idea. The Panorama is probably the museums’ best (and most well-known) feature.
First Post – Let’s get this over with…
This is my first post for this new blog and I’d like to take the opportunity to note the mission/vision of the endeavor.
I am creating this blog as an assignment for a gradschool class in Library Science. It will, I understand, continue to serve me in future classes although I’m not sure at this point how it will be used.
That said, I have not particular direction for the content of my blog so I’ll be sort of feeling that out as I go along.
So… in a lame attempt to give this post something other than my ramblings… here’s a great comic from XKCD (best webcomic on the net!!)
Enjoy!
